One more question: I don't know how to use "planning", and
consequently "reconciliation" with the Handy Finance. For example:
In order to know my month-end account balance, I put in a
transaction called "Other", which will cover all unexpected
spendings, and assign a status: PLAN. Then, at the end of the
month, I need to reconcile the PLAN against reality, which could
be, for instance, purchase of new shoes. That means, I basically
need to delete the transaction called "Other", and replace it with
the actual spending, i.e. new shoes. At the same time, I want to
be able to compare my original PLAN (i.e., what I expected to
spend), and actuals, i.e. what I've actually spent. Does the HF
provide a functionality to do this?
As I understand you need to see both planned and real balance during a
month and at the end of the month to become each of them equal.
This is just how I do this for myself.
I have assigned checkbox "Billable" for planning purposes. In filters I
have selected "no" infront of checkbox "Billable" and unchecked this
option. This allows me to see transactions both marked as "Billable"
and not marked as "Billable", but, transactions checked as "Billable"
are not added to total. So, I see both real and planned entries, but
planned entries are not added to total. When I do some purchase I can
both create new transaction with unchecked "Billable" option or find
apropriate transaction among planned and uncheck "Billable" for it,
also I may correct amount, date and categories. To see total + planned
balance or only planned amount of money to spend you need to adjust
filters. For the first case you need check mark for "Billable" option
in filters and select "all" infront of it. For the second case you
need only to select "yes" infront of "Billable" option, doing so you
will see only planned total but all records. By checking "Billable"
option and selecting "yes" you will see only planned records and only
planned balance.
In the free version you may use option "Cleared" instead of
"Billable".
For quick planning you may change "Billable" option for records
directly from the list of the transactions. Doing this you may
estimate required amount of money for different combination of
expences and incomes.
To reconcile planned and total balance at the end of the month you
need to adjust filters to see only planned records. Then use "Delete"
from menu to delete selected planned records. Beware, this command
will delete all records you see, so it will be wisdom first to see
which records are selected by filter.
